Why is the product changing?
The reason for this slight adjustment is due to customer demand. We have for a long time been asked for a primer that is off-white and easier to see while overcoating with our (bright) standard white topcoat. This adjustment aims to eliminate bright white on bright white ‘snowblindness’.
We have undertaken extensive testing both in-house and on live jobs with customers. The positive feedback we have received surrounding the adjusted colour, and how much easier it makes for overcoating with our bright standard white has been very encouraging and we have now decided to have all Filling Primer factory set at off-white.
The only physical change to your material will be a little additional pigment. You will see the improved visibility of the primer, and also benefit from improved opacity of the additional pigmentation, thus improving the overall user experience.
Can I still buy 'bright white' primer?
Should you still require a bright white primer, our 17-0537 Hydrolux Iso Primer and our 17-0535 Hydrolux Base Primer will remain standard white. This will result in very clear differences in our 3 primer offerings.
It is also important to note that 17-0535 Base Primer has been tested for up to 18 months as a primer mid-coat (ideal for prime-only work) and without topcoat, hence the need to keep this material as a bright white.
